BOAT LOAD PUZZLES says it has 40,000 crosswords puzzles available. The GUARDIAN newspaper has a free puzzles section. And if you fancy a really intellectual challenge MENSA has a puzzles section.
Established newspapers like The NEW YORK TIMES have free crosswords. Here’s an excellent site called CROSSWORD PUZZLES which has LINKS to lots of crossword puzzles as well as information about crosswords.
If you get a message saying “the Java plug-in needs your permission to run" right click on your mouse (click the right button of the top of your mouse which opens up a menu of options on your screen) and select “run this plugin”.
Also if you prefer to you can print out the crosswords and do them in the traditional way and check the answers ONLINE. Alternatively a number of sites propose you create your own puzzles.
Here’s something unexpected – JIGZONE offers free jigsaw puzzles that you complete on your computer screen. It’s quite challenging and potentially hours of entertainment.
