Welcome to the website for the over 50's.
This INTERNET SITE
The site is designed for those of us of advancing years who nevertheless want to keep participating in and learning about life.
We are the fifty somethings or the third age. Our glasses are half full and we are often liberated (or becoming liberated) from family and work responsibilities. As such we have more time to explore the virtual world available to us over THE INTERNET and through this to participate more actively and fully in the real world.
This WEBSITE gathers together and organises material of interest to all of us and unashamedly explains things in terms of first principles.
It provides a degree of order and helps locate relevant material with specific reference to those over the magic age of fifty, though we hope it will be of interest and value to all generations. The SITE is organised into topics which are listed on the right such as MUSIC or FILMS.
To access this rich seam of information POINT AND CLICK on any of the images to find out about a subject. Just move YOUR MOUSE and point THE CURSOR at any of the pictures down the right column or on text which looks “LIKE THIS” (incidentally a BBC course on making the most of being online one THE INTERNET) and click the left button of THE MOUSE twice (press down on it twice with your forefinger).
And if you want to start again just click on the HOMEPAGE link on the tab at the top of the page.
You can SCROLL down (really move down the page) by rolling the wheel on top of YOUR MOUSE or clicking on the SCROLL BAR over on the far right and moving it down or back up.
And don’t worry about getting it wrong. Many people even from the younger generations don’t fully appreciate the incredible technology they are using but just click away and (mostly) find what they need.
After visiting a SITE you can return here to GREYWEBWINE by clicking on the BACK BUTTON which is an arrow pointing to the left on the TOOLBAR usually on the top left of the screen.
Just think of THE INTERNET as a massive, massive library with books, sound recordings, videos and all manner of other material all searchable but often not very organised.
As you become more confident, in searching for material over THE WEB, please contribute your thoughts, opinions and suggestions by adding a comment on any of the topics. We are particularly interested in any other relevant LINKS which we will consider adding to improve the website.
Good luck and if in doubt have a go!
